Euphorbia francoisii 'Sip-Jed' Variegata with Dual Heads (WA Prohibited)
Euphorbia francoisii 'Sip-Jed' is an exquisite hybrid originating from the arid regions of southern Madagascar. This form, known as Variegata, is especially sought-after for its vibrant foliage and its rare formation of dual growing heads. The species has been a canvas for hybridisers across Southeast Asia, and 'Sip-Jed' exemplifies the fine balance between natural artistry and cultivated refinement.
Distinctive features:
- Two symmetrical leaf rosettes growing from a singular caudex, a highly uncommon and desirable trait
- Variegated foliage combining rich burgundy, deep green, and cream highlights with a serrated margin
- Wavy-edged leaves with prominent central veining and smooth undersides
- Compact growth atop a sculptural, pale caudex that appears twisted and bulbous
- Small chartreuse cyathia (Euphorbia flowers) emerge seasonally, adding subtle charm
Care Tips:
- Light: Bright filtered light, with protection from intense midday sun
- Water: Allow soil to fully dry between waterings; sensitive to overwatering
- Humidity: Prefers dry to moderate humidity levels
- Media: Use gritty, fast-draining cactus or succulent mix
- Temperature: Thrives between 18–30°C; avoid drops below 10°C
- Fertiliser: Apply diluted succulent fertiliser fortnightly during spring and summer
- Repotting: Infrequent, only when root-bound or to refresh exhausted soil
Additional Notes
- Slow-growing and well-suited to container cultivation
- The caudex can become more pronounced with age and careful watering
- Toxic to pets and humans due to its milky sap; handle with care
- Highly prized among collectors for its balanced symmetry and vivid leaf display
- Best viewed from above to appreciate the radial leaf pattern of each crown
This Euphorbia francoisii 'Sip-Jed' Variegata with dual heads is an exceptional cultivar, combining rare morphological symmetry with refined coloration. Its adaptability to pot culture and visual intrigue make it an outstanding specimen for dedicated succulent enthusiasts.
