Echinopsis peruviana, also known as Trichocereus peruvianus, is a striking columnar cactus native to the high-altitude regions of the Andes in Peru. Valued for its rapid growth, blue-green stems, and large nocturnal flowers, this species thrives in well-draining soil and bright sunlight. It is a popular choice among collectors for its resilience and ornamental appeal.

Distinctive Features

  • Growth Habit: A tall, columnar cactus that can reach heights of up to 6 metres (20 feet), with multiple branching stems.
  • Spines: Light brown to golden spines arranged in clusters along its prominent ribs.
  • Flowers: Large, white, fragrant blooms that open at night and attract pollinators such as moths and bats.

Care Tips

  • Light: Prefers full sun but can tolerate partial shade.

  • Cut-off: Orders to WA, NT and TAS must be placed by Friday 7am (AEST) to be included in the following week’s dispatch.
  • Treatment & Delay: These orders require biosecurity treatment and certification, which is completed each Friday. Please allow an additional 1–2 weeks for processing.

Plant Health Certification (PHAC) Fees

  • $20 fee applies to WA orders.
  • $10 fee applies to NT and TAS orders.
