Refined Pink Hybrid with Spotted Blooms
Cymbidium Kirby Lesh 'Lonsdale' is a registered hybrid developed from Cymbidium Pink Champagne × Cymbidium Red Beauty. Bred by A. Easton and registered in 1996 by the Torrance Cymbidium Society, it is noted for its medium pink flowers peppered with darker pink spotting. This cultivar reliably produces 10–15 well-formed 110 mm blooms per spike, with multiple spikes arising from a single bulb during its flowering season from August.
Distinctive Features
- Parentage: A hybrid between Cymbidium Pink Champagne and Cymbidium Red Beauty, offering large flower size and striking colour contrast.
- Flower Traits: 110 mm pink blooms with pink spotting; carried on upright spikes with 10–15 flowers per stem.
- Plant Habit: Upright, clumping growth with multiple spikes per mature bulb; always grown in pots or baskets.
Care Tips
- Light: Bright, indirect light or filtered sun; avoid direct midday exposure.
- Water: Water generously during active growth; reduce slightly in cooler months while avoiding full dryness.
- Humidity: Moderate to high humidity preferred; ensure good air movement.
- Media: Free-draining orchid bark mix with perlite or charcoal; never plant directly into soil or garden beds.
- Temperature: Performs best between 10–28 °C; must be protected from frost.
- Fertiliser: Feed fortnightly with balanced orchid fertiliser during growth; switch to bloom formula before flowering.
- Repotting: Every 2–3 years after flowering or when pot-bound.

- Cut-off: Orders to WA, NT and TAS must be placed by Friday 7am (AEST) to be included in the following week’s dispatch.
- Treatment & Delay: These orders require biosecurity treatment and certification, which is completed each Friday. Please allow an additional 1–2 weeks for processing.
Plant Health Certification (PHAC) Fees
- $20 fee applies to WA orders.
- $10 fee applies to NT and TAS orders.
- This fee is per order (not per plant) and is included in your shipping cost at checkout.
