Adromischus filicaulis 'Red Spots' is a cultivated form of the South African species Adromischus filicaulis, found in rocky, arid habitats of the Western and Northern Cape. This selection is recognised for its fleshy, cylindrical leaves marked with reddish spotting, which becomes more intense in bright light and under dry conditions. Plants form low clumps of short, branched stems, remaining compact in cultivation. In maturity, slender flowering stems appear with small tubular flowers that are greenish to whitish, often flushed with purple at the tips.
Care Tips
- Light: Needs bright light to full sun to encourage strong leaf spotting and compact growth.
- Water: Water sparingly, allowing soil to dry fully between applications; reduce watering further in winter.
- Media: Best grown in a gritty, free-draining substrate to prevent excess moisture around roots.
- Fertiliser: Feed lightly with a diluted cactus fertiliser during the active growing season.
- Temperature: Suited to warm, dry conditions; protect from frost and prolonged dampness.
- Repotting: Repot every few years to renew soil and manage clump size; propagation is possible from detached, callused leaves.

- Friday Dispatch: Orders placed by Wednesday 11:59 PM AEST. Orders placed after these cut-offs will be dispatched on the next available day.
Biosecurity States (WA, NT, TAS): These orders require mandatory biosecurity treatment (PHC) and follow a specific weekly schedule:
- Cut-off: Orders must be placed by Thursday 11:59 PM AEST.
- Dispatch Day: Orders are processed over the weekend and dispatched on Tuesday.
Plant Health Certification (PHC) Fees:
- $20 fee applies to WA orders.
- $10 fee applies to NT and TAS orders. This fee is per order (not per plant) and is included in your shipping costat checkout.
