Adromischus marianae f. antidorcatum
check_circle In Stock
Adromischus marianiae f. antidorcatum is a naturally occurring form of Adromischus marianiae, native to arid regions of South Africa where it grows among rocks and mineral soils. This form is characterised by thick, irregularly shaped leaves with a rough, often warty surface. Leaf colour ranges from grey-green to brownish or reddish depending on sun exposure and seasonal stress. Plants remain small and clumping, with a growth habit that allows them to blend well with surrounding stones. When mature, they can produce slender flower spikes carrying small tubular blooms that are pale green to whitish with purple tips, though foliage remains the main feature in cultivation.
Care Tips
- Light: Requires bright light to full sun to maintain compact growth and bring out leaf colouration.
- Water: Water lightly, letting the soil dry completely between applications; reduce in cooler months.
- Media: Grow in a very gritty, free-draining substrate to avoid moisture build-up.
- Fertiliser: Feed sparingly with a diluted cactus fertiliser during the growing season.
- Temperature: Prefers warm, arid conditions; protect from frost and prolonged dampness.
- Repotting: Repot every few years to refresh soil; easily propagated from detached, callused leaves.
