Adromischus marianae f. herrei
check_circle In Stock
Adromischus marianiae f. herrei is a recognised form of Adromischus marianiae, native to arid parts of Namibia and South Africa where it grows among stones and gravelly slopes. This form is especially distinctive for its thick, knobbly leaves that are irregular in shape, often warty or corrugated, and coloured from grey-green to dark brown or reddish under stress. Its rugged appearance provides camouflage in its natural environment. Mature plants may send up slender flower stalks with small tubular blooms in pale green to white, tinged with purple, though foliage is the main ornamental feature in cultivation.
Care Tips
- Light: Requires bright light to full sun for compact growth and stronger leaf colouration.
- Water: Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry fully between applications; reduce watering in winter.
- Media: Needs a sharply draining, gritty mix to avoid moisture retention around the roots.
- Fertiliser: Feed occasionally during the growing season with a diluted cactus fertiliser.
- Temperature: Best grown in warm, arid conditions; protect from frost and prolonged damp weather.
- Repotting: Repot every few years to refresh soil and allow clumps to expand; propagation is reliable from detached leaves after callusing.
