Distinctive Features
- Leaves: Thick, fleshy leaves with a distinctive reddish-brown colour and a velvety texture. The leaves are typically 2-4cm long (approximately 1-1.5 inches) and have a slightly wavy margin.
- Flowers: Produces small, tubular flowers that are typically white or pale pink in colour. The flowers are often borne in clusters of three, hence the name "triflorus". While the flowers are not the main attraction, they add a touch of delicate beauty to this fascinating plant.
- Growth Habit: This Adromischus has a compact, clumping growth habit. It is a slow-growing succulent that typically reaches a height of 10-15cm (4-6 inches).
Care Tips
- Light: Bright, indirect light is best. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
- Water: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so it's important to be cautious.
- Soil: Use a well-draining succulent or cactus potting mix. You can also add perlite or pumice to improve drainage.
- Temperature: Maintain warm temperatures between 18-24°C (65-75°F). Avoid exposing this succulent to cold draughts or frost.
- Fertiliser: Use a diluted succulent fertiliser once a month during the growing season (spring and summer).
- Propagation: This Adromischus can be propagated through leaf cuttings. Simply remove a healthy leaf, allow it to callus over, and then place it on well-draining soil. Roots will typically form within a few weeks.
