Aeonium arboreum 'Picasso'

Aeonium ‘Picasso’ is a variegated cultivar forming rosettes of spoon-shaped leaves marked with irregular yellow to lime-green streaks. The centres of the rosettes remain bright and fresh in colour, while the outer leaves deepen to shades of purple and red, especially in cooler weather or when grown in strong light. Seasonal changes influence the intensity of both the variegation and the red tones, giving the plant a shifting, painterly appearance throughout the year. Mature rosettes can send up tall conical clusters of yellow star-shaped flowers in late winter to spring, after which the individual flowering rosette naturally dies back while offsets continue to grow.

• Light – Place in bright light to full sun to maintain the bold variegation and seasonal red colouring.
• Water – Water moderately in the growing season and reduce during summer dormancy when growth slows.
• Humidity – Suited to low humidity and good airflow.
• Media – Plant in a coarse, free-draining succulent mix to avoid waterlogging.
• Temperature – Best grown between 10–25 °C; protect from frost.
• Fertiliser – Feed with a diluted, balanced fertiliser during the active growth period.
• Repotting – Repot every 2–3 years or when offsets crowd the container, refreshing the soil to maintain drainage.
