Albuca spiralis 'Frizzle Sizzle' is a cultivated form of the South African species Albuca spiralis. Like the species, it grows from a bulb and produces green, narrow leaves that curl into tight spirals, but this cultivar is especially valued for its pronounced and consistent coiling foliage. In spring, it sends up spikes of nodding, yellow flowers with green stripes, often with a light fragrance. As with the species, its natural rhythm follows a Mediterranean pattern of winter growth and summer dormancy.
