Aloe plicatilis 'Fan Aloe'
The Fan Aloe
One of the most popular of landscaping Aloes. Highly ornamental fan like braches form on 5 to 7cm stems. Plicatilis grows an short upright stems and branches like a shrub.
Growth is very slow reaching 1 to 1.5 meters in 20 to 30 years.
Position - full sun or partial shade. Great in gardens, background planting, rockeries or pots. Indoors only in well-lit positions otherwise they will lose their nice shape and colour.
Watering - can be watered all year round with most growth over summer months. Plants will survive without water for many months but will do better if watered all year.
Feeding - 25% of recommended dosage monthly in growing period. The less fertiliser the better the shape of the plant. Fertilisers high in nitrogen can produce larger plants with less colour.
Repotting - can be left to overgrow their pots or repotted in the warmer months in almost any well drained potting mix.
