Neoregelia Tiny Tot 'Red' Mini Hybrid Bromeliad
check_circle In Stock
Neoregelia ‘Tiny Tot’ Red is a vibrant miniature hybrid bromeliad selected for its compact growth and rich red foliage. Descended from Brazilian Neoregelia species that naturally grow as epiphytes in rainforest canopies, this cultivar combines the durability of larger bromeliads with a space-saving habit, making it ideal for terrariums, mounted displays, vertical gardens and tropical plant collections.
This listing is for a bare-rooted bromeliad pup (offset), not a mature flowering plant. Bromeliads naturally reproduce by producing pups around the base of the parent plant after flowering. These young plants are removed once they are large enough to establish independently and are supplied bare rooted for safe transport. Although smaller than mature specimens, pups establish quickly, develop into full-sized plants, flower in time, and will eventually produce pups of their own.
'Tiny Tot' Red develops into a neat, symmetrical rosette with rich red to burgundy foliage that becomes increasingly intense when grown in bright, filtered light. In slightly lower light the leaves retain attractive blends of green and red, making it an eye-catching plant throughout the year. Like all Neoregelia, each individual rosette flowers only once before naturally producing offsets from the base, gradually forming an attractive multi-rosette clump.
Whether grown in a decorative pot, mounted onto cork or timber, or incorporated into a terrarium or tropical display, this miniature hybrid is rewarding and easy to grow. Its reliable growth, compact size and continual production of pups make it an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced bromeliad growers.
Care Tips:
- Light: Bright, filtered light. Higher light levels encourage deeper red pigmentation and compact growth.
- Water: Keep the central cup filled with fresh water and flush regularly. Keep the growing media lightly moist but never waterlogged.
- Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity but adapts well to typical indoor conditions.
- Media: Plant into a coarse, free-draining bromeliad mix or mount onto cork, timber or tree fern fibre.
- Fertiliser: Apply a very dilute liquid fertiliser during active growth, either into the central cup or around the root zone.
- Temperature: Best grown between 15–28 °C; protect from frost.
- Growth: Supplied as a healthy bare-rooted pup that will mature into a flowering rosette before naturally producing pups of its own.
- Repotting: Offsets can be separated once they reach around one-third to one-half the size of the parent plant, or left attached to develop into a dense multi-rosette clump.
