Bulbophyllum Elizabeth Ann 'Buckleberry'
This is a huge genus, with over 1500 named species, and many more still being
discovered, mostly epiphytes & lithophytes. In this genus, there are plants with flowers in all shapes, sizes and colours.
The majority of species produce a cylindrical pseudobulb with a singly leaf, which develops along a creeping rhizome. However, there are numerous species, particularly from Africa & Madagascar, that are 2– leafed. Bulbophyllum includes some of the smallest orchids, plus others form massive plants.
Bulbophyllums grows well on tree-fern slabs, cork slabs etc, while the larger species may be grown in pots or baskets.
In general, they prefer shaded positions & constant moisture around the roots.
