Calathea makoyana, previously known as Goeppertia makoyana, is a visually stunning plant native to eastern Brazil. Renowned for its vividly patterned leaves that resemble peacock feathers.
Distinctive Features
- Leaves: Elliptical, glossy leaves with intricate feather-like markings in varying shades of green, cream, and purple undersides.
- Growth Habit: Compact and bushy growth, typically reaching heights up to 60 cm.
- Movement: Leaves exhibit nyctinastic movements, folding up at night and opening again at dawn.
Care Tips
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight.
- Water: Maintain consistently moist but not soggy soil. Use room-temperature water.
