Brassolaeliocattleya Thongsupan Gold '#2' is a selected cultivar within the Cattleya alliance, bred for its large golden-yellow flowers with a broad, well-rounded form. The blooms are typically waxy in texture and long lasting, carrying the bold character associated with this hybrid line. The cultivar '#2' was chosen for its especially clear colour and flower quality. Like others in the alliance, it responds well to bright light and warmth, rewarding consistent care with an annual display of showy flowers.

Care Tips

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light; can tolerate some morning or late afternoon sun but avoid harsh midday rays.
  • Water: Water generously during growth, allowing the medium to dry slightly before watering again; reduce after flowering until new growths appear.
  • Media: Best grown in coarse orchid bark or another free-draining orchid mix.
  • Fertiliser: Apply a balanced orchid fertiliser regularly during the active season, reducing in cooler months.
  • Temperature: Suitable for intermediate to warm conditions; keep above 10 °C and protect from cold draughts.
  • Repotting: Repot every 2–3 years, or when the medium begins to break down, placing new growths towards open space in the pot.

Non-Biosecurity States (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, SA): We now offer two dispatches per week for these regions:

  • Tuesday Dispatch: Orders placed by Sunday 11:59 PM AEST.
  • Friday Dispatch: Orders placed by Wednesday 11:59 PM AEST. Orders placed after these cut-offs will be dispatched on the next available day.

Biosecurity States (WA, NT, TAS): These orders require mandatory biosecurity treatment (PHC) and follow a specific weekly schedule:

  • Cut-off: Orders must be placed by Thursday 11:59 PM AEST.
  • Dispatch Day: Orders are processed over the weekend and dispatched on Tuesday.

Plant Health Certification (PHC) Fees:

  • $20 fee applies to WA orders.
  • $10 fee applies to NT and TAS orders. This fee is per order (not per plant) and is included in your shipping costat checkout.
