Rhyncholaeliocattleya Songkwae Gold '#2' is a Cattleya alliance hybrid from the cross between Rhyncholaeliocattleya Haadyai Delight and Rhyncholaeliocattleya Thongsupran. This cultivar has been selected for its rounded, full flowers in golden-yellow tones, often with a broad, prominent lip. Plants are vigorous growers and, like many in this group, produce large, waxy-textured blooms that can last for several weeks when conditions are favourable.
Care Tips
Light: Provide bright, indirect light; some gentle morning or late afternoon sun encourages stronger flowering.
Water: Water generously during growth, allowing the medium to dry slightly before the next watering; reduce after flowering until new shoots appear.
Media: Grows best in coarse orchid bark or a similarly open, free-draining orchid mix.
Fertiliser: Apply a balanced orchid fertiliser regularly during active growth, easing off during cooler months.
Temperature: Thrives in intermediate to warm climates; protect from frost and sudden cold snaps.
Repotting: Repot every 2–3 years, or when medium breaks down, positioning the newest growth towards free space in the container.
