Cereus forbesii 'Tiny Tot', also known by its synonym Cereus comarapanus, is an exceptionally compact cultivar of this South American cactus species. Native to regions of Bolivia and Argentina, this variety is treasured for its architectural miniature form. 

Distinctive Features

  • Miniature Habit: A naturally dwarf cultivar, maintaining a tight, columnar silhouette that rarely deviates from its vertical poise.
  • Glaucous Stems: Smooth, blue-green ribs that develop a subtle bloom under high light, creating a soft matte finish.
  • Elite Provenance: One of only two plants released at this growth stage, making it a true collector's piece.

Care Tips

  • Light: Requires full sun or bright filtered light to encourage strong, compact growth.
  • Water: Allow the soil to fully dry between waterings; overwatering is a common risk with compact cultivars.
  • Humidity: Prefers low to moderate humidity; excessive moisture can invite rot.
  • Media: Plant in a gritty, well-draining cactus mix—ideally with added pumice or perlite.
  • Temperature: Best kept between 18–30°C; not frost-tolerant, so protect in winter months.
  • Fertiliser: Feed sparingly during the growing season with a diluted cactus-specific fertiliser.
  • Repotting: Due to its slow growth, repotting is rarely needed—only when visibly root-bound.

Non-Biosecurity States (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, SA): We now offer two dispatches per week for these regions:

  • Tuesday Dispatch: Orders placed by Sunday 11:59 PM AEST.
  • Friday Dispatch: Orders placed by Wednesday 11:59 PM AEST. Orders placed after these cut-offs will be dispatched on the next available day.

Biosecurity States (WA, NT, TAS): These orders require mandatory biosecurity treatment (PHC) and follow a specific weekly schedule:

  • Cut-off: Orders must be placed by Thursday 11:59 PM AEST.
  • Dispatch Day: Orders are processed over the weekend and dispatched on Tuesday.

Plant Health Certification (PHC) Fees:

  • $20 fee applies to WA orders.
  • $10 fee applies to NT and TAS orders. This fee is per order (not per plant) and is included in your shipping costat checkout.
