Ceropegia ampliata - Condom Plant
release_alert Low Stock - 2 available
Ceropegia ampliata is a climbing succulent species native to parts of southern Africa, including South Africa, Namibia and Eswatini. It naturally inhabits semi-arid areas, often scrambling through shrubs or along the ground where it benefits from filtered light. This species is known for its unusual, tubular white flowers that emit a distinct scent, which helps attract pollinators such as flies. The slender stems can reach considerable lengths, producing paired leaves that are often reduced in size on mature growth.
Care Tips:
- Light Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate some direct morning sun.
- Water Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry between watering, especially in winter.
- Humidity Moderate household humidity is adequate.
- Media Use a well-draining succulent mix with added grit or sand.
- Temperature Keep in a warm position, ideally between 18–26°C, and protect from frost.
- Fertiliser Apply a diluted succulent fertiliser during the active growing season.
- Repotting Repot only when root-bound, typically every 2–3 years.
