Native to highland forest margins of Southeast Asia, it has become one of the most sought-after representatives of this group for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
Distinctive Features
- Striking blooms: Produces arching, densely packed racemes of rich golden-yellow flowers with a delicate citrus fragrance.
- Foliage and form: Features fine, grass-like foliage that gently arches, complementing the cascading flower spikes.
- Growth habit: Vigorous and clump-forming, this variety can establish into an impressive display specimen when grown well.
Care Tips
- Light: Thrives in bright, filtered light; avoid harsh midday sun to prevent leaf scorch.
- Water: Keep evenly moist during the growing season; reduce slightly during cooler months but never allow to fully dry out.
- Humidity: Prefers high humidity (60–80%), especially during active growth; misting or humidity trays can help indoors.
- Media: Grows well in fine-grade orchid bark mixed with sphagnum moss or perlite for moisture retention and airflow.
- Temperature: Enjoys intermediate to cool conditions, ideally 12–25 °C; protect from frosts and sudden temperature drops.
- Fertiliser: Apply a balanced orchid fertiliser fortnightly during the active season; reduce frequency in winter.
- Repotting: Best repotted every 2–3 years or when the media begins to degrade; choose a shallow, wide container to support spread.
