Cymbidium ((Ken Gorry × Borough Green × floribundum) × Sweet Devon) – Cascading Yellow & Burgundy Lip (Currently in Flower)
release_alert Low Stock - 1 available
This unique cascading hybrid combines several well-known cymbidiums — Ken Gorry, Borough Green, and Sweet Devon — with the compact species floribundum (formerly known as pumilum). The result is a graceful plant with arching spikes that carry many small, clear yellow flowers with a contrasting burgundy lip. The elegant shape, colour contrast, and reliable cascading habit make this an exceptional display orchid.
Currently in flower (8-10-25). Every care will be taken to send this plant in bloom, but flowers may be damaged in transit. This is not simply a house display plant — it is an opportunity to acquire a rare, one-off collector’s specimen in flower.
Care
- Light: Bright filtered light; protect from harsh midday sun.
- Water: Keep evenly moist during active growth; allow slight drying between waterings in winter.
- Temperature: Cool to intermediate; prefers good air movement.
- Media: Free-draining cymbidium bark mix; ideal for hanging baskets or cascading display pots.
- Feeding: Regular feeding with balanced orchid fertiliser through spring and summer, switching to a bloom booster in late summer.
Key Characteristics
- Flower size & colour: 4–5 cm, bright yellow petals with dark burgundy lip.
- Spike habit: Cascading; 20–35 flowers per spike.
- Bloom season (AU): Late winter to early spring.
- Fragrance: Light, sweet fragrance.
- Plant size & habit: Medium, upright foliage with pendant flowering spikes; excellent in baskets.
Background: A complex cascading hybrid combining the classic Roesler-style breeding of Ken Gorry and Borough Green with the compact, floriferous traits of floribundum and the shape and colour influence of Sweet Devon. The result is a refined collector’s plant with strong cascading form and brilliant yellow-and-burgundy contrast.
This particular division is one-of-a-kind, grown from select parent stock — not a mericlone.
