Cymbidium Pied Piper – Rare Primary Hybrid
check_circle In Stock
Cymbidium Pied Piper is a classic primary hybrid first registered in 1968 by Greenoaks, bred from Cymbidium devonianum × Cymbidium canaliculatum. These plants are unflowered seedlings, expected to produce elegant arching or cascading spikes with richly coloured blooms in tones of bronze, green, and burgundy. Each seedling will be unique, combining the floriferous, pendulous habit of devonianum with the warmth tolerance and rugged charm of canaliculatum.
Only three seedlings available. These are grown from seed — not mericlones — and will vary in flower colour and shape. Ideal for collectors who enjoy growing rare primary hybrids to flowering size.
Care
- Light: Bright filtered light or early morning sun; avoid harsh midday heat.
- Water: Keep moist during active growth; allow brief drying between waterings in winter.
- Temperature: Intermediate to warm; excellent heat tolerance from canaliculatum parentage.
- Media: Free-draining cymbidium or coarse orchid bark mix; ideal in baskets for cascading habit.
- Feeding: Apply balanced orchid fertiliser regularly during the growing season; switch to bloom booster in late summer.

- Spike habit: Cascading or arching, influenced by devonianum.
- Bloom season (AU): Typically late summer to autumn.
