Drimiopsis maculata (Syn. Ledebouria petiolata) Spotted African Bulb
check_circle In Stock
Drimiopsis maculata is a hardy bulb-forming perennial grown for its broad green leaves covered in irregular dark spots. Mature plants develop prominent bulbs at the surface of the pot and produce tall flower spikes carrying clusters of small greenish-white flowers.
This species is also classified as Ledebouria petiolata. The established plant shown has a large exposed bulb, spotted foliage, an offset and a developing flower spike.
Plant Supplied
You will receive an established plant similar in size and presentation to the plant photographed. Plants are not guaranteed to arrive with an active flower spike, as flowers may naturally finish before delivery.
The bulb naturally sits partly above the surface of the potting mix. This is normal and should not be covered deeply when repotting.
Care
- Light: Bright filtered light, morning sun or a sheltered semi-shaded position.
- Water: Water thoroughly during active growth, then allow the upper layer of potting mix to dry before watering again.
- Dormancy: Growth may slow and some or all leaves may die back during cooler or drier periods. Reduce watering until new growth begins.
- Temperature: Protect from frost and prolonged cold, wet conditions.
- Media: Use a free-draining potting mix suitable for bulbs and succulents.
- Fertiliser: Apply a diluted balanced fertiliser during active growth.
