Drosera paradoxa is a distinctive tropical sundew native to northern Australia. It produces an upright rosette of narrow leaves topped with dense, sticky red tentacles, giving the plant a striking, almost pom-pom–like appearance.
This species belongs to the petiolaris complex and is adapted to warm, seasonally wet conditions. It is best suited to experienced growers who can provide consistent warmth, strong light, and appropriate moisture management.
Care
- Light: Bright light to full sun. Strong light is essential for healthy growth and colour.
- Water: Keep moist during active growth. Use rainwater, distilled, or reverse-osmosis water only.
- Humidity: High humidity preferred, especially during warm weather.
- Temperature: Warm to hot conditions year-round. Avoid cold temperatures.
- Growing media: Free-draining carnivorous mix such as sand-heavy peat or mineral-rich mixes used for petiolaris complex species.
