Echeveria 'Black Madiba' is a striking dark-leaved hybrid forming compact, symmetrical rosettes of glossy purplish-brown foliage with green centres. Under strong light, the leaves take on a deep blackish hue, while lower light encourages more purple and green tones. The leaves are firm and slightly pointed, giving the plant a sculptural appearance. A premium choice for collectors looking for rich colour and clean form.
Care
Light: Full sun to bright light. Strong light brings out the darkest black-purple colour. Indoors, provide a bright position with good airflow.
Water: Water thoroughly and allow to dry completely between watering. Reduce watering in the cooler months.
Media: Use an open, well-drained succulent mix. Avoid waterlogging or overly fine media.
Temperature: Keep above 7 °C. Protect from frost and prolonged cold.
Feeding: Apply a low-strength fertiliser (25% dilution) monthly during active growth. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilisers which can reduce colour intensity.
Repotting: Best done in the warmer months once roots have filled the pot. Remove any old or dried lower leaves during repotting.
