Echinopsis subdenudata, commonly called the Easter Lily Cactus, is a small, globular cactus native to Bolivia and Paraguay. It is renowned for its large, fragrant, night-blooming white flowers, which contrast beautifully against its dark green, nearly spineless body. This species thrives in cultivation due to its ease of care and striking floral display.
Distinctive Features
- Stem: Globular, deep green, with barely visible spines and woolly areoles.
- Flowers: Large, white, highly fragrant, and bloom at night.
- Growth Habit: Slowly clumping, producing offsets over time.
Care Tips
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light to full sun.
- Water: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings.
- Humidity: Adaptable but prefers low to moderate humidity.
- Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 10–30°C but must be protected from frost.
- Fertiliser: Use a diluted cactus fertiliser during the growing season.
- Potting: Well-draining cactus mix with sand and perlite.
- Propagation: Easily propagated from offsets.
