Epiphyllum 'Mojave Gold' #352

Epiphyllum 'Mojave Gold' is a hybrid orchid cactus, though despite its name this cultivar produces blooms in shades of pink rather than yellow. Like other epiphyllums, it develops flattened, segmented stems inherited from its Central and South American forest ancestry. The flowers are large and layered, with outer petals showing bright pink to magenta tones, while the inner petals are softer, blending into near white at the centre. The flowers open widely, revealing a cluster of pale stamens, and are typically produced in the warmer months.

Care Tips

• Light: Provide bright, indirect light; avoid exposure to harsh midday sun.
• Water: Keep lightly moist during growth and flowering, allowing the surface to dry slightly between waterings; water less during cooler months.
• Media: Best grown in a coarse, free-draining mix with added organic matter.
• Fertiliser: Feed with a balanced fertiliser during spring and summer, switching to one higher in potassium to encourage blooms.
• Temperature: Thrives in warm conditions and should be protected from cold below 10°C.
