Its flattened, arching stems are typical of the genus, descended from tropical forest species of Central and South America. The blooms of this cultivar are large and open widely, displaying deep pink to magenta petals with a bright glow at the centre, accented by pale stamens. The flowers are produced seasonally in warmer months, often in abundance when the plant is well cared for.
