WA Restricted - Cannot be shipped to Western Australia.
Euphorbia ferox is a robust, clump-forming succulent species native to the arid interior of South Africa, particularly within the Karoo region. It develops dense clusters of upright, cylindrical stems with prominent ridges and thick, paired spines that are reddish when young and fade to grey with age. The stems are typically grey-green to glaucous, and may take on a purplish hue under strong light or drought conditions. Small yellow cyathia are produced near the growing tips, usually during the warmer months. Its formidable spination and compact stature help protect it from herbivory in its natural environment.
Care Tips:
- Light – Requires full sun or very bright filtered light to maintain colour and form
- Water – Water infrequently; ensure the soil dries out completely between waterings
- Humidity – Thrives in dry air with good airflow
- Media – Use a sharply draining mix with added coarse sand or pumice
- Temperature – Keep above 10°C; avoid prolonged cold or damp conditions
- Fertiliser – Apply a diluted cactus fertiliser during active growth in spring and summer
- Repotting – Repot when overcrowded or when soil needs refreshing
Additional Notes:
- Known to be toxic
