check_circle In Stock
Euphorbia mammillaris, commonly known as the Corn Cob Euphorbia, is a columnar succulent species native to the Western Cape of South Africa, where it grows in stony, well-drained soils on arid hillsides. It produces thick, upright stems with prominent tubercles arranged in vertical rows, giving it a ribbed, segmented appearance. Each tubercle bears a small reddish spine, and stem colour ranges from bright to glaucous green, often flushing red at the tips with sun exposure. Small cyathia, often white to pink-tinged, may appear at the growing tips during the warmer months.
Care Tips:
- Light – Prefers full sun to bright filtered light; protect from extreme midday heat in hotter climates
- Water – Water thoroughly and infrequently; allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings
- Humidity – Thrives in dry conditions; ensure good airflow and avoid high humidity
- Media – Requires a sharply draining cactus mix with added pumice or coarse sand
- Temperature – Maintain above 10°C; susceptible to cold and frost damage
- Fertiliser – Use diluted cactus fertiliser during active growth in spring and summer
- Repotting – Repot every few years or when the plant outgrows its container
Additional Notes:
- Known to be toxic
