Euphorbia meloformis One Off Specials (WA Prohibited)
release_alert Low Stock - 1 available
Euphorbia meloformis, native to the arid Eastern and Western Cape provinces of South Africa, is a compact, highly ornamental succulent known for its globular form and striking ridged symmetry. These are unique, extra-large specimens from the Boss’ private vault – rarely seen in cultivation at this size and never in such pristine condition. This species, often dubbed “Melon Spurge,” is a slow grower that mimics the form of a miniature melon or rounded cactus, despite being a true Euphorbia.
Distinctive Features
- Melon-like shape: Characteristically rounded and segmented body with deep vertical ridges resembling the lines of a melon.
- Green to blue-green hues: Subtle coloration shifts depending on light intensity, sometimes developing purple tinges under stress.
- Decorative mottling and spines: Small spines along the ribs and mottled surface patterns enhance its visual appeal.
Care Tips
- Light: Thrives in bright, indirect sunlight to full sun; protect from intense midday heat in extreme conditions.
- Water: Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings; water sparingly in winter.
- Humidity: Prefers dry air; no additional humidity is necessary.
- Media: Use a gritty, fast-draining cactus or succulent mix with excellent aeration.
- Temperature: Enjoys warm conditions from 18°C to 27°C; avoid frost.
- Fertiliser: Apply a diluted cactus fertiliser during the growing season (spring to early autumn).
- Repotting: Infrequently needed due to slow growth; repot only when clearly outgrowing its container.
Additional Notes
- Latex sap is toxic and can irritate skin and eyes – handle with care.
