Euphorbia 'Pineapple Head' is a hybrid of South African Euphorbia species, believed to involve Euphorbia bupleurifolia and Euphorbia susannae. It forms a stout, conical stem with overlapping segments that resemble the crown of a pineapple. The stem surface is ridged and grey-green to glaucous, often developing reddish tones with age or exposure to bright light. Short paired spines are present along the ridges, and under favourable conditions, yellow cyathia may appear at the growing tip.
Care Tips:
- Light - Prefers bright light or filtered sun; avoid deep shade or intense overhead heat
- Water - Water infrequently; allow soil to dry completely between waterings
- Humidity - Performs best in dry air with good airflow
- Media - Requires a well-drained succulent mix with added sand or pumice
- Temperature - Keep above 10°C; protect from cold and prolonged moisture
- Fertiliser - Use a diluted cactus fertiliser during active growth in spring and summer
- Repotting - Repot every few years or when root space becomes limited
Additional Notes:
