check_circle In Stock
Ficus elastica 'Shivereana' is a cultivated form of the Indian rubber tree, originating from Ficus elastica, a species native to parts of north-east India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Indonesia. This cultivar is primarily known for its pale green to cream foliage, speckled with irregular darker green blotches, giving it a mottled or marbled appearance. The leaves are thick, leathery, and oblong, forming upright on a central stem. Like its parent species, it produces a milky sap when cut, which contains natural latex.
Care Tips:
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain variegation; tolerates some morning sun
- Water: Allow soil to dry 3–5 cm down between watering; do not allow to sit in water
- Humidity: Tolerates average humidity but benefits from occasional misting in dry conditions
- Media: Use a well-draining potting mix with some bark or perlite
- Temperature: Keep between 18–27°C; avoid exposure to cold draughts
- Fertiliser: Feed monthly in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser
- Repotting: Repot every 1–2 years or when rootbound; refresh soil when needed
Additional Notes:
- Known to be toxic
