Gymnocalycium mihanovichii forma Kikko is a striking cultivar originating from Paraguay and northern Argentina, known for its pronounced tuberculate ribs and geometric texture. A naturally occurring mutant form of the popular chin cactus, this variant is highly sought after by collectors for its sculptural body and slow, compact growth. While it can flower with pale pink to light magenta blooms, its most notable appeal lies in its deeply angular, reptilian-like surface.
Distinctive Features
- Warty ribs: The ribs are interrupted by pronounced, angular protrusions that give it a jagged, almost armour-like appearance.
- Compact form: Grows slowly into a squat, globular shape, rarely exceeding 8 cm in diameter under cultivation.
- Contrasting flowers: Blooms emerge from the plant apex in soft pastel shades, providing a delicate contrast to the rugged body.
Care Tips
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light or filtered sun; too much direct sun may scorch the skin, especially in summer.

Non-Biosecurity States (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, SA): We now offer two dispatches per week for these regions:
- Tuesday Dispatch: Orders placed by Sunday 11:59 PM AEST.
- Friday Dispatch: Orders placed by Wednesday 11:59 PM AEST. Orders placed after these cut-offs will be dispatched on the next available day.
Biosecurity States (WA, NT, TAS): These orders require mandatory biosecurity treatment (PHC) and follow a specific weekly schedule:
- Cut-off: Orders must be placed by Thursday 11:59 PM AEST.
- Dispatch Day: Orders are processed over the weekend and dispatched on Tuesday.
Plant Health Certification (PHC) Fees:
- $20 fee applies to WA orders.
- $10 fee applies to NT and TAS orders. This fee is per order (not per plant) and is included in your shipping costat checkout.
