Haworthia atrofusca (Syn. magnifica var. atrofusca) – Mutant Form
check_circle In Stock
Haworthia atrofusca – Mutant Form is a slow-growing collector Haworthia producing compact rosettes of thick, triangular leaves. The foliage develops dark olive-green, brown and bronze tones, with translucent windows and fine markings visible across the upper leaf surfaces.
This plant was supplied under the older horticultural name Haworthia magnifica var. atrofusca mutant. “Mutant Form” is used here as a descriptive trade designation rather than a formally registered cultivar name.
This listing is for the mature, multi-headed specimen shown in the photographs. It has formed a dense cluster over several years and may display minor marks or dry leaf tips consistent with an established Haworthia of this age.
Care
- Light: Provide bright, filtered light or gentle morning sun. Strong light encourages darker foliage, but intense afternoon sun may scorch the leaf windows.
- Water: Water thoroughly, then allow the media to become almost dry before watering again. Reduce watering during very hot or cold periods when growth slows.
- Media: Use a gritty, highly free-draining succulent mix with plenty of mineral material.
- Temperature: Protect from frost, prolonged cold and extreme heat. Best grown in a sheltered position with good ventilation.
- Air movement: Regular air movement helps the plant dry between waterings and reduces the risk of rot.
- Fertiliser: Feed lightly during active growth using a low-nitrogen fertiliser at approximately one-quarter strength.
- Repotting: Repot only when necessary. Haworthia generally perform well when slightly pot-bound.
