Hoya acuta variegata 'Yellow Form'
release_alert Low Stock - 2 available
Hoya acuta variegata 'Yellow Form' is native to Southeast Asia, particularly the Philippines and surrounding regions, where it grows as a climbing or trailing epiphyte in humid tropical forests. This cultivar is treasured for its creamy yellow centres contrasted by deep green leaf margins, a distinctive form that thrives in bright conditions and develops dense foliage over time.
Distinctive Features
- Variegated Leaves: Bold yellow-cream centres framed by rich green borders make each leaf highly decorative.
- Compact Blooms: Small, star-shaped flowers may appear on mature plants, usually pale pink or white with a sweet fragrance.
- Trailing Growth Habit: Exhibits a cascading or climbing habit, excellent for hanging baskets or mounted displays.
Care Tips
- Light: Prefers bright indirect light to dappled morning sun; avoid harsh midday exposure which can scorch variegated foliage.
- Water: Allow the top layer of soil to dry between waterings; more frequent in summer, minimal in winter.
- Humidity: Enjoys moderate to high humidity; occasional misting or proximity to other plants can help maintain this.
- Media: Use a chunky, free-draining mix such as orchid bark with perlite and some sphagnum moss.
- Temperature: Ideal range is 18–28 °C; protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 12 °C.
- Fertiliser: Apply a diluted liquid fertiliser monthly during the growing season (spring to early autumn).
- Repotting: Repot every 2–3 years or when roots become crowded, preferably in early spring.
