Hoya carnosa 'Indian Rope' Inside Variegate
cancel Sold out
Hoya carnosa 'Indian Rope' Inner Variegate is a strikingly ornamental cultivar of this classic wax plant species, distinguished by its thick, contorted leaves featuring central cream variegation. This epiphytic climber hails from subtropical forests of Asia and is especially prized for both its decorative foliage and its porcelain-like blooms.
Distinctive Features
- Curled and Fleshy Leaves: The foliage is heavily twisted, almost rope-like, with a bold creamy variegation that runs along the centre of each thick leaf.
- Clustered, Starry Flowers: Pale pink, reflexed corollas with darker centres are produced in ball-shaped umbels, each with a delightfully waxy texture and mild fragrance.
- Compact, Slow-Spreading Habit: This cultivar tends to grow slowly and can form a pendant or semi-climbing habit in hanging pots or mounted culture.
Care Tips
- Light: Enjoys bright, indirect light; some early morning sun can improve flowering, but avoid harsh midday exposure.
- Water: Allow the potting mix to dry between waterings. Overwatering should be avoided, particularly in cool conditions.
- Humidity: Tolerates average humidity but benefits from higher humidity levels during active growth phases.
- Media: Prefers a well-aerated mix – orchid bark and perlite blended with peat or coco coir is ideal.
- Temperature: Thrives between 15–28°C. Protect from frost and prolonged temperatures below 10°C.
- Fertiliser: Apply a diluted, balanced fertiliser every 4 weeks during spring and summer; reduce during cooler months.
- Repotting: Repot every 2–3 years or when root-bound. Hoya prefer to be slightly snug in their containers.
