Hoya carnosa 'Krinkle' is a unique cultivar of Hoya carnosa, known for its distinctively crinkled, dimpled leaves that give it a textured appearance. Like its parent species, this epiphytic vine originates from East Asia and Australia, thriving in warm, humid environments. Its thick, semi-succulent leaves help retain moisture, making it relatively drought-tolerant. When mature, it produces clusters of star-shaped, pinkish-white flowers with a sweet fragrance.
Distinctive Features
- Leaves: Small, dark green, and distinctly crinkled, with a waxy texture. The leaves are closely spaced along the long stems, creating a lush, textured appearance.
- Flowers: Borne in clusters of up to 15, each with a diameter of 1.5cm (0.6in). The flowers are a delicate pale pink colour with a darker pink centre and have a subtle, sweet fragrance.
- Growth Habit: A vining plant that can grow up to 2m (6.5ft) long. It is best grown in a hanging basket or on a trellis or ladder to allow its long stems to cascade freely.
Care Tips
- Light: Bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
- Water: Water regularly during the growing season (spring and summer) and allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Reduce watering in autumn and winter.
- Humidity: Prefers moderate humidity. Misting the leaves regularly can help to increase humidity levels.
- Temperature: Ideal temperature range is 18-25°C (64-77°F). Avoid temperatures below 10°C (50°F).
- Fertiliser: Fertilise once a month during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser.
- Potting: Use a well-draining potting mix. A mix of peat moss, perlite, and orchid bark is ideal.
- Propagation: Can be propagated from stem cuttings. Take cuttings in spring or summer and root them in a well-draining potting mix.

- Friday Dispatch: Orders placed by Wednesday 11:59 PM AEST. Orders placed after these cut-offs will be dispatched on the next available day.
Biosecurity States (WA, NT, TAS): These orders require mandatory biosecurity treatment (PHC) and follow a specific weekly schedule:
- Cut-off: Orders must be placed by Thursday 11:59 PM AEST.
- Dispatch Day: Orders are processed over the weekend and dispatched on Tuesday.
Plant Health Certification (PHC) Fees:
- $20 fee applies to WA orders.
- $10 fee applies to NT and TAS orders. This fee is per order (not per plant) and is included in your shipping costat checkout.
