Distinctive Features
- Leaves: Small, lance-shaped, and dark green, with prominent veining and a smooth, waxy texture. The leaves are arranged oppositely on the stem and can grow up to 4cm (1.6in) long and 2cm (0.8in) wide.
- Flowers: Borne in clusters of up to 10, each with a diameter of 1cm (0.4in). The flowers are a delicate pale pink colour with a darker pink centre and have a subtle, sweet fragrance.
- Growth Habit: A very compact vining plant that typically grows up to 1.5m (5ft) long. It is ideal for growing in hanging baskets or on small trellises, where its unique foliage can be showcased.
Care Tips
- Light: Bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
- Water: Water regularly during the growing season (spring and summer) and allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Reduce watering in autumn and winter.
- Humidity: Prefers moderate humidity. Misting the leaves regularly can help to increase humidity levels.
- Temperature: Ideal temperature range is 18-25°C (64-77°F). Avoid temperatures below 10°C (50°F).
- Fertiliser: Fertilise once a month during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser.
- Potting: Use a well-draining potting mix. A mix of peat moss, perlite, and orchid bark is ideal.
- Propagation: Can be propagated from stem cuttings. Take cuttings in spring or summer and root them in a well-draining potting mix.
