Hoya endauensis
release_alert Low Stock - 2 available
Hoya endauensis is endemic to the lowland forests of Johor, Peninsular Malaysia. This species is renowned for its elegant, cascading umbels of pale yellow-green flowers with dark centres, and was originally discovered in Endau Rompin National Park, hence its name.
Distinctive Features
- Foliage: Narrow, dark green leaves with a subtle sheen, occasionally slightly folded along the midrib.
- Inflorescence: Produces pendulous umbels of reflexed, creamy chartreuse flowers with contrasting maroon coronas; mildly fragrant.
- Growth Habit: A twining climber that establishes as a loose scrambler or trained vertical specimen when supported.
Care Tips
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light; some early morning sun enhances growth but avoid intense midday exposure.
- Water: Allow substrate to dry slightly between waterings; more frequent during the growing season and sparingly in cooler months.
- Humidity: Thrives in moderate to high humidity; regular misting or a humidity tray is beneficial.
- Media: Best in a loose, airy epiphytic mix with bark, perlite, and a small amount of peat or coco coir.
- Temperature: Enjoys warm conditions between 18–28 °C and is sensitive to prolonged cold or frost.
- Fertiliser: Use a balanced, diluted fertiliser monthly during spring and summer; reduce feeding in winter.
- Repotting: Only when pot-bound, typically every 2–3 years; select a container that allows for air circulation at the roots.
