Hoya heuschkeliana 'Variegata' is a small-leaved epiphytic species from the Philippines, admired for its creamy-white and green variegated foliage and urn-shaped, waxy flowers in shades of soft peach to rose-pink. This cultivar is a mutation of the green form, retaining the same charming blooms but with the added attraction of ornamental foliage.
Distinctive Features
- Foliage: Smooth, ovate leaves with bright creamy-yellow margins and apple-green centres; highly ornamental even when not in bloom.
- Flowers: Small, tubular to urn-shaped blooms appear in tight umbels, flushed with peach to deep rose tones and mildly fragrant.
- Growth Habit: Compact and trailing, often cascading over the edge of a pot or basket; suitable for small spaces or hanging displays.
Care Tips
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light; avoid direct sun on variegated leaves as it may scorch or bleach them.
- Water: Water moderately during active growth; allow to dry between watering. Reduce frequency in cooler months.
- Humidity: Appreciates moderate to high humidity. Occasional misting is beneficial indoors.
- Media: Use a free-draining, chunky epiphytic mix—ideally incorporating orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir or peat.
- Temperature: Thrives between 18–28 °C; protect from chills below 12 °C.
- Fertiliser: Apply diluted balanced liquid fertiliser every 3–4 weeks during spring and summer.
- Repotting: Repot only when root-bound, typically every 2–3 years; prefers a slightly snug pot.

Non-Biosecurity States (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, SA): We now offer two dispatches per week for these regions:
- Tuesday Dispatch: Orders placed by Sunday 11:59 PM AEST.
- Friday Dispatch: Orders placed by Wednesday 11:59 PM AEST. Orders placed after these cut-offs will be dispatched on the next available day.
Biosecurity States (WA, NT, TAS): These orders require mandatory biosecurity treatment (PHC) and follow a specific weekly schedule:
- Cut-off: Orders must be placed by Thursday 11:59 PM AEST.
- Dispatch Day: Orders are processed over the weekend and dispatched on Tuesday.
Plant Health Certification (PHC) Fees:
- $20 fee applies to WA orders.
- $10 fee applies to NT and TAS orders. This fee is per order (not per plant) and is included in your shipping costat checkout.
