cancel Sold out
Hoya krohniana 'Super Silver' is native to the Philippines and is celebrated for its eye-catching foliage, where each small, heart-shaped leaf is nearly covered in metallic silver. This cultivar is sought after for its ornamental appeal and manageable size, making it a perfect choice for indoor collections.
Distinctive Features
- Foliage brilliance: Leaves are heavily dusted with silvery speckling, giving a shimmering appearance over deep green.
- Flowers: Produces pale cream to soft yellow star-shaped blooms in rounded clusters, with a mild fragrance during warm months.
- Growth habit: A compact and trailing epiphyte that thrives in hanging pots or small trellises.
Care Tips
- Light: Bright, indirect light enhances silver variegation; avoid harsh midday sun to prevent leaf scorching.
- Water: Allow to dry slightly between waterings; reduce watering in cooler months but do not allow prolonged dryness.
- Humidity: Moderate to high humidity promotes healthy growth and blooming.
- Media: Use a fast-draining epiphytic mix containing bark, perlite, and coarse coco coir or chunky peat.
- Temperature: Prefers 18–28 °C; sensitive to cold below 10 °C and should be protected from frost.
- Fertiliser: Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser every 3–4 weeks during active growth; reduce in winter.
- Repotting: Every 2–3 years or when roots begin to circle the pot; use a shallow container for best results.
Additional Notes
- This cultivar is slower growing than green-leafed forms but compensates with exceptional foliage beauty.
- Blooms are more likely to occur with stable warmth, good light, and consistent care.
