Hoya lacunosa - H008
release_alert Low Stock - 2 available
Hoya lacunosa Collection Number 8 is a compact climbing Hoya with small, glossy green leaves and relatively fine stems. It is particularly valued for its clusters of small, fuzzy white flowers, which can produce a strong sweet fragrance often compared with cinnamon or cloves.
Collection Number 8 identifies this particular plant within our Hoya collection. It is a collection number rather than a registered cultivar name.
Key Characteristics
- Growth habit: Compact climbing or trailing epiphyte with fine stems
- Foliage: Small, slightly cupped, glossy green leaves with visible venation
- Flowers: Rounded clusters of small, fuzzy white flowers with pale centres
- Fragrance: Sweet and often noticeably cinnamon or clove scented, particularly during the evening
- Flowering habit: Established plants can flower repeatedly from retained peduncles
- Origin: Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines
Care
- Light: Grow in bright, filtered light. Gentle morning sun is suitable, but protect the foliage from harsh afternoon sun.
- Water: Water thoroughly, then allow the mix to approach dryness before watering again. Avoid keeping the roots continually wet.
- Temperature: Best grown under intermediate to warm conditions, generally between 16–30°C. Protect from cold draughts and prolonged temperatures below approximately 12°C.
- Humidity: Moderate to high humidity is beneficial, provided there is good air movement around the plant.
- Media: Use an open, free-draining Hoya mix that allows plenty of air around the roots.
- Feeding: Apply a balanced fertiliser at reduced strength during active growth.
- Support: Allow the stems to trail or train them onto a small trellis or other support.
Flowering
Good light, steady warmth and allowing the plant to become established will encourage flowering. Do not remove old flower spurs or peduncles, as the plant can bloom repeatedly from the same points.
Please note: Leaf size, shape and colouring can vary with age and growing conditions. Plants are selected from the available stock, and the plant supplied may vary naturally from the photographed example.
