Hoya manipurensis is a truly distinctive species recognised for its unusual fan-shaped leaves and petite orange star-shaped blooms. It’s an excellent choice for collectors who enjoy rare, sculptural Hoyas that thrive in warm indoor conditions.
Key Characteristics
- Foliage: Unique fan-like leaves with a matte texture, giving this species an almost geometric appearance.
- Flowers: Small orange stars with a soft sheen, produced along the stem rather than in traditional umbels.
- Growth habit: Compact and upright, with branching that becomes more architectural as the plant matures.
- Flowering behaviour: Blooms intermittently when exposed to bright light and steady warmth.

Growing Conditions
- Light: Bright, indirect light is best. Morning sun helps maintain compact growth.
- Water: Allow the top of the mix to dry between waterings. This species prefers airy potting media and dislikes being waterlogged.
- Humidity: Enjoys moderate humidity but adapts well to standard indoor conditions.
- Temperature: Warm-growing and well suited to indoor environments throughout the year.
- Helpful resource: Learn how root development affects growth in our Understanding Hoya Roots guide.
