Hoya mathilde 'Splash' is a popular hybrid between Hoya carnosa and Hoya serpens, combining the vigorous growth of one parent with the delicate foliage of the other. It produces compact, trailing stems that make it ideal for baskets or small supports. The leaves are round to slightly oval, a deep green base irregularly flecked with silvery markings, giving the plant its 'Splash' name.
Clusters of small, star-shaped flowers form in umbels, usually pale pink to white with darker centres. The blooms carry a sweet fragrance, strongest in the evening, and like many hoyas, secrete nectar that can glisten on the petals. Flowering often occurs once the plant is well established and provided with steady light and warmth.
Adaptable and easy to maintain, this hybrid responds well to bright filtered light, a chunky free-draining medium, and regular feeding through the growing months. With time, Hoya mathilde 'Splash' develops into a dense, cascading specimen that rewards the grower with both foliage and floral display.
Care Tips:
- Light: Place in bright, indirect light; can tolerate some soft morning sun.
- Water: Water when the surface of the mix has just dried; avoid constant wetness.
- Humidity: Moderate to high humidity is beneficial.
- Media: Grow in a chunky, free-draining mix containing bark and perlite.
- Fertiliser: Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser during active growth.
- Temperature: Best grown between 18–28°C.
- Repotting: Repot only when roots have filled the pot, as slight restriction helps encourage flowering.

Non-Biosecurity States (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, SA): We now offer two dispatches per week for these regions:
- Tuesday Dispatch: Orders placed by Sunday 11:59 PM AEST.
- Friday Dispatch: Orders placed by Wednesday 11:59 PM AEST. Orders placed after these cut-offs will be dispatched on the next available day.
Biosecurity States (WA, NT, TAS): These orders require mandatory biosecurity treatment (PHC) and follow a specific weekly schedule:
- Cut-off: Orders must be placed by Thursday 11:59 PM AEST.
- Dispatch Day: Orders are processed over the weekend and dispatched on Tuesday.
Plant Health Certification (PHC) Fees:
- $20 fee applies to WA orders.
- $10 fee applies to NT and TAS orders. This fee is per order (not per plant) and is included in your shipping costat checkout.
