Hoya parasitica 'Pink'
release_alert Low Stock - 2 available
Hoya parasitica 'Pink' is a climbing plant with broad, glossy leaves and clusters of pink flowers. The species Hoya parasitica is native to Southeast Asia, where it grows in forested environments, often winding through trees for support. In cultivation, its stems can be trained to climb or left to cascade from a container.
The leaves are oval to slightly pointed, deep green, and often display lighter venation across the surface. Its flowers are carried in umbels, forming star-shaped blooms of soft pink that release a sweet fragrance, particularly in the evening. Nectar is often visible, glistening at the centre of each flower.
This plant responds well to warm, humid conditions, reflecting the seasonal climate of its natural range. Strong light and a stable environment encourage reliable growth and flowering, with well-fed specimens producing umbels more readily.
Care Tips:
- Light: Bright, filtered light with some gentle morning sun is ideal.
- Water: Let the top layer of soil dry between watering; avoid keeping it constantly wet.
- Humidity: Enjoys moderate to high humidity levels.
- Media: A loose, free-draining mix with orchid bark and perlite works well.
- Fertiliser: Use a balanced liquid fertiliser during the growing season.
- Temperature: Best grown between 18–28°C.
- Repotting: Repot only when root-bound, as slight restriction can promote flowering.
