Hoya pubicalyx ‘Jungle Green’ - H053
release_alert Low Stock - 2 available
Hoya pubicalyx ‘Jungle Green’ is a vigorous and attractive Hoya with glossy green foliage scattered with variable silver splashing. Mature plants produce rounded clusters of rich pink, star-shaped flowers with pale centres and finely fringed edges.
Plants are selected from the current batch. The photographs show the general size and quality supplied; each plant will vary naturally in growth, leaf shape and the amount of silver splash present.
Distinctive Features
- Foliage: Glossy green leaves with variable silver flecking and splashing
- Flowers: Rounded clusters of rich pink, waxy, star-shaped blooms
- Growth habit: Vigorous climbing and trailing growth
- Training: Can be grown on a trellis or allowed to trail from a hanging basket
- Collection number: 53
Flowering
Flowering generally occurs once the plant is established and receiving suitable light. The flower photograph shows the expected bloom; plants are not necessarily supplied in flower or with developing buds.
Do not remove old flower spurs, as established peduncles can bloom repeatedly.
Care
- Light: Bright, filtered light to gentle morning sun. Good light will support compact growth and flowering.
- Water: Water thoroughly, then allow the growing media to partially dry before watering again. Avoid keeping the roots constantly wet.
- Media: Use an open, free-draining Hoya or epiphytic mix.
- Temperature: Best grown in warm conditions. Protect from frost and prolonged temperatures below approximately 10°C.
- Humidity: Average to moderately high humidity is suitable when accompanied by good air movement.
- Fertiliser: Feed lightly during active growth using a balanced fertiliser at reduced strength.
- Repotting: Hoyas generally perform well in relatively snug pots. Repot only when required and avoid using an excessively large container.
Natural Variation
The amount and distribution of silver splash will vary between leaves and individual plants. New growth may also emerge in a lighter shade of green before hardening and darkening.
Transport Note
Long runners may be gently curved or secured for transport. Some minor leaf movement or cosmetic marking can occur during packing and delivery without affecting the plant’s health.
