Hoya ‘Ruthie’ - H178 - Enormous Mature Specimen
release_alert Low Stock - 1 available
This is an enormous, mature specimen of Hoya ‘Ruthie’ - H178, with numerous established vines extending a considerable distance beyond the hanging basket. The photograph gives some indication of its scale, but this is an exceptionally large plant that will require plenty of room.
You will receive the exact plant photographed. Hoyas of this size are extremely difficult to source and cannot be quickly replaced. Its value reflects its maturity, extensive vine growth and the years required to produce a specimen of this scale.

Flowers
Hoya ‘Ruthie’ produces large, colourful flowers with yellow and pink tones. The flowers are carried in rounded clusters and can produce a noticeable sweet fragrance under warm conditions.
This specimen is sold as a mature plant and is not guaranteed to be flowering when purchased or dispatched. Any flowers or developing buds present in photographs may finish or drop naturally before the plant is supplied.
Mature Plant Condition
This is a genuine mature specimen rather than a recently produced young plant. A Hoya with this much established growth will naturally have older stems, bare sections of vine, previous growth points and variations in leaf condition.
Some leaves have age-related marks, discolouration or minor cosmetic damage. These characteristics are visible in the photograph and are normal for a plant of this scale. They do not detract from its overall health or value as an exceptionally large specimen.
Care
- Light: Bright, indirect light. Gentle morning sun can support strong growth and flowering.
- Water: Water thoroughly, then allow most of the potting mix to dry before watering again. Avoid prolonged saturation.
- Temperature: Best maintained between 18–30 °C with stable warmth.
- Humidity: Standard indoor humidity is adequate, although moderate humidity can support flowering.
- Potting mix: Use a chunky, airy and free-draining Hoya mix.
- Support: Provide substantial hanging space or a strong support structure for its extensive vines.
- Fertiliser: Feed lightly and regularly during active growth in the warmer months.
Transporting an Enormous Specimen
We will pack this plant carefully, but vines of this length cannot be secured as rigidly as a smaller plant. Some leaf loss, displaced vines, bent growing tips or minor stem breakage may occur during transport.
The vines will need to be carefully unpacked and rearranged after arrival. Please consider this before purchasing. Minor cosmetic or transport damage does not affect the established nature or long-term value of the plant.
