Hoya tsangii 'Variegata'
release_alert Low Stock - 2 available
Hoya tsangii ‘Variegata’ is a refined, compact cultivar with long, narrow leaves edged and splashed in creamy white. The foliage alone makes this plant a standout, with elegant variegation that looks great spilling from a hanging basket or trained up a small trellis. Mature plants produce clusters of small lime-green flowers that sit neatly above the leaves, adding an extra layer of interest without overpowering the plant’s delicate look.
Key Characteristics
- Name: Hoya tsangii ‘Variegata’
- Growth Habit: Compact trailing to semi-climbing vine

Growing Conditions
- Light: Bright filtered light is essential to maintain strong variegation; avoid harsh midday sun on the leaves.
- Water: Allow the potting mix to dry slightly between waterings; see How to Water Hoyas for detailed guidance.
- Temperature: Warm-growing cultivar; happiest at 18–30°C with protection from cold drafts.
- Humidity: Average indoor humidity is fine, but moderate humidity encourages fuller growth and better flowering.
- Potting Mix: Free-draining airy mix such as bark/perlite/coco coir; its root system responds well to the principles in Understanding Hoya Roots.
- Fertiliser: Light, regular feeding in the warmer months to support foliage colour and flower production.
Where This Hoya Works Best
- Ideal as a tidy hanging plant or trailing from a high shelf
- Great in mixed variegated collections where the narrow leaves add contrast
- Perfect for growers wanting a subtle, elegant Hoya rather than a large, bold species
- Good choice for indoor growers with bright, indirect light
