Hoya 'Wilbur Graves'
release_alert Low Stock - 1 available
Hoya 'Wilbur Graves' is a much-admired cultivar in the world of foliage Hoyas, prized for its lush, dark green leaves densely speckled with bright silver. Its ornamental value lies primarily in its striking foliage, though it may produce small umbels of fragrant flowers under optimal conditions.
Distinctive Features
- Foliage: Broad, thick leaves with a deep green base, often heavily overlaid with reflective silver flecking in irregular patterns.
- Flowers: Small clusters of star-shaped, pale pink or off-white blooms with a mild scent; infrequent in cultivation.
- Habit: Slow-growing epiphyte with a compact, vining form; well-suited to hanging pots, totems, or shelves with support.
Care Tips
- Light: Bright, filtered light is ideal; some direct morning sun can help maintain strong leaf markings, but harsh midday rays should be avoided.
- Water: Water thoroughly when the top third of the potting mix has dried; reduce watering during cooler months.
- Humidity: Enjoys moderate to high humidity (50–80%); a humidity tray or regular misting may be beneficial in dry indoor environments.
- Media: Use a well-aerated mix, such as orchid bark blended with perlite and chunky coco coir, to mimic epiphytic conditions.
- Temperature: Prefers 16–28°C; protect from cold snaps and never allow exposure below 10°C.
- Fertiliser: Feed monthly during active growth (spring through early autumn) with a balanced or foliage-focused liquid fertiliser.
- Repotting: Best done every 2–3 years or when roots begin to circle the base of the pot; avoid overpotting.
