Kalanchoe luciae Crested Flapjack
check_circle In Stock
This unusual form of Kalanchoe luciae produces stable crested growth, with broadened growing points and tightly crowded paddle-shaped leaves. We have maintained and propagated this form for long enough to confirm that the distinctive growth habit remains consistent.
Plants are grown from our established crested stock. Each plant will vary naturally in shape, colour and the amount of crested development present.
About the Crested Growth
Cresting, also known as fasciation, occurs when the growing point develops into an elongated or broadened line rather than a single rounded centre. This produces densely packed, folded and unusually arranged leaves.
This form has proven stable in our collection. Some plants may still produce occasional normal paddle-shaped growth alongside the crest, which is normal for many crested succulents.
Care
- Light: Grow in bright light to morning sun. Strong light and cooler conditions encourage pink, red and burgundy colouring.
- Water: Water thoroughly, then allow the potting mix to dry before watering again. Reduce watering during cool weather.
- Media: Use a coarse, free-draining cactus and succulent mix.
- Temperature: Protect from frost and prolonged cold, wet conditions.
- Feeding: Apply a dilute succulent fertiliser during active growth.
- Air movement: Good airflow is important, particularly around the densely packed crested growth.

Please Note
The photographs show representative plants from this batch. The plant supplied will be selected from the available stock and will vary naturally in shape, size, colour and crest development.
The powdery farina on the leaves marks easily when touched. Minor rubbing, handling marks and cosmetic blemishes may be present or develop during packing and transport. These do not affect the health of the plant.
Succulent leaves can occasionally become loosened or damaged during transport. The established stem and growing points will continue producing new growth.
