Kleinia stapeliiformis (syn. Senecio stapeliiformis), commonly known as the Snake Plant or Pickle Plant, is a captivating succulent native to the arid regions of South Africa. This plant is admired for its slender, upright stems patterned in mottled green and purple, mimicking the skin of a snake. It produces vivid orange-red flowers that resemble those of stapeliads, hence its species name.

Care Tips

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light; tolerates some full sun, especially morning exposure.
  • Water: Water sparingly; allow soil to completely dry out between watering to avoid root rot.
  • Humidity: Thrives in dry environments and does not require high humidity.
  • Media: Use a very well-draining cactus or succulent mix with added grit or perlite.
  • Temperature: Best kept between 15–27°C; protect from frost and cold drafts.
  • Fertiliser: Feed monthly during the growing season with a diluted succulent fertiliser.
  • Repotting: Repot every 2–3 years or when rootbound; choose shallow pots to suit its spread.

Non-Biosecurity States (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, SA): We now offer two dispatches per week for these regions:

  • Tuesday Dispatch: Orders placed by Sunday 11:59 PM AEST.
  • Friday Dispatch: Orders placed by Wednesday 11:59 PM AEST. Orders placed after these cut-offs will be dispatched on the next available day.

Biosecurity States (WA, NT, TAS): These orders require mandatory biosecurity treatment (PHC) and follow a specific weekly schedule:

  • Cut-off: Orders must be placed by Thursday 11:59 PM AEST.
  • Dispatch Day: Orders are processed over the weekend and dispatched on Tuesday.

Plant Health Certification (PHC) Fees:

  • $20 fee applies to WA orders.
  • $10 fee applies to NT and TAS orders. This fee is per order (not per plant) and is included in your shipping costat checkout.
